SLK Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS3901066

Ste20-like kinase (SLK) plays a role in cytoskeletal organization during cell spreading and can induce actin stress fiber disassembly. SLK is a serine/threonine kinase that is thought to be regulated by casein kinase 2 (CK2) and is also involved in apoptosis. More details

Western Blot (WB), Immunoprecipitation (IP)
Application Notes for anti-SLK antibody
WB: 1:500-1:5000
IP: 6ug/mg lysate

Western Blot (WB) of anti-SLK antibody

Detection of human SLK by western blot and immunoprecipitation. Samples: A) Whole cell lysate from MCF-7 (5, 15 and 50 ug), HeLa (H; 15 ug) and HEK293T (T; 15 ug). B) Whole cell lysate (1 mg/IP; 1/4 of IP loaded) from MCF7 cells. Antibodies: Affinity purified rabbit anti-SLK antibody BL1915 (Cat. No. MBS3901066) used at 1 ug/ml for WB (A and B) and at 3 ug/mg lysate for IP (B). SLK was also efficiently immunoprecipitated by BL1917 (Cat. No. MBS3901067) but not by BL1916. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 3 minutes (A and B).

Other Notes

Small volumes of anti-SLK antibody vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

UniProt Comments for SLK

SLK: a microtubule-associated protein kinase required for progression through G2. Co-localizes with the mitotic spindle in cells undergoing mitosis. Regulates actin reorganization during cell adhesion and spreading via a Rac1-mediated pathway. Signals via ASK1 and p38 to promote apoptosis. Activated in response to anoxia and ischemia-reperfusion injury in cell culture. It inhibits the protective aspects of the endoplasmic reticulum stress response, thus contributing to its proapoptotic effect. Two alternatively-spliced isoforms have been described.

Protein type: Protein kinase, STE; Protein kinase, Ser/Thr (non-receptor); Kinase, protein; EC 2.7.11.1; STE group; STE20 family; SLK subfamily

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q24.33

Cellular Component: cytoplasm

Molecular Function: protein serine/threonine kinase activity; identical protein binding; protein homodimerization activity; ATP binding; receptor signaling protein serine/threonine kinase activity
