CNGA1 Antibody – Rabbit Polyclonal

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS2524834

The protein encoded by this gene is involved in phototransduction. Along with another protein, the encoded protein forms a cGMP-gated cation channel in the plasma membrane, allowing depolarization of rod photoreceptors. This represents the last step in the… More details

UniProt Comments for CNGA1

CNGA1: a cyclic nucleotide-gated cation channel of rod cells in the retina. Visual signal transduction is mediated by a G-protein coupled cascade using cGMP as second messenger. Activated by cGMP which leads to an opening of the cation channel and thereby causing a depolarization of rod photoreceptors. CNG ion channels exist in the retinal, olfactory and cochlear sensory neurons.
