UniProt Comments for MTMR6

MTMR6: Phosphatase that acts on lipids with a phosphoinositol headgroup. Acts as a negative regulator of KCNN4/KCa3.1 channel activity in CD4+ T-cells possibly by decreasing intracellular levels of phosphatidylinositol 3 phosphatase. Negatively regulates proliferation of reactivated CD4+ T-cells. Belongs to the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. Non-receptor class myotubularin subfamily. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Protein phosphatase, tyrosine (non-receptor); Phosphatase, lipid; EC 3.1.3.-; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - riboflavin; Carbohydrate Metabolism - fructose and mannose; Cofactor and Vitamin Metabolism - thiamine

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 13q12

Cellular Component: cytoplasm; cytosol; nuclear envelope

Molecular Function: calcium-activated potassium channel activity; phosphatidylinositol-3-phosphatase activity; protein binding; protein serine/threonine phosphatase activity; protein tyrosine phosphatase activity

Biological Process: phosphatidylinositol biosynthetic process; phosphoinositide dephosphorylation; protein amino acid dephosphorylation
