Other Notes

Small volumes of Bid elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS2504334 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Bid, ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing Bid. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS2504334 kit is based on Bid antibody-Bid antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect Bid antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, Bid. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for Bid

This gene encodes a death agonist that heterodimerizes with either agonist BAX or antagonist BCL2. The encoded protein is a member of the BCL-2 family of cell death regulators. It is a mediator of mitochondrial damage induced by caspase-8 (CASP8); CASP8 cleaves this encoded protein, and the COOH-terminal part translocates to mitochondria where it triggers cytochrome c release. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found, but the full-length nature of some variants has not been defined. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for Bid

BID: a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 superfamily. Targets intracellular membranes and contains a BH3 death domain. Heterodimerizes with either the pro-apoptotic protein BAX or the anti-apoptotic protein BCL2, antagonizing its protective effect. The activity of BID is regulated by Caspase 8-mediated cleavage, exposing the BH3 domain and significantly changing the surface charge and hydrophobicity, causing translocation to mitochondria where it triggers cytochrome c release. Multiple alternatively spliced variants have been found.

Protein type: Mitochondrial; Apoptosis

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 22q11.1

Cellular Component: mitochondrial outer membrane; membrane; mitochondrion; cytosol

Molecular Function: protein binding; ubiquitin protein ligase binding; death receptor binding
