Other Notes

Small volumes of NEF3 elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS2504179 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the NEF3, ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing NEF3. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS2504179 kit is based on NEF3 antibody-NEF3 antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect NEF3 antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, NEF3. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for NEF3

Neurofilaments are type IV intermediate filament heteropolymers composed of light, medium, and heavy chains. Neurofilaments comprise the axoskeleton and functionally maintain neuronal caliber. They may also play a role in intracellular transport to axons and dendrites. This gene encodes the medium neurofilament protein. This protein is commonly used as a biomarker of neuronal damage. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]

UniProt Comments for NEF3

NFM: a neurofilament intermediate filament protein. Neurofilaments usually contain three intermediate filament proteins: L, M, and H which are involved in the maintenance of neuronal caliber. The levels of phosphorylation are altered developmentally and coincident with a change in the neurofilament function.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 8p21

Cellular Component: axon; neurofilament; neuromuscular junction

Molecular Function: protein binding; structural constituent of cytoskeleton; microtubule binding

Biological Process: neurofilament bundle assembly; regulation of axon diameter; axon cargo transport; microtubule cytoskeleton organization and biogenesis
