BAFF (TNFSF13B) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS175962

Background: BAFF was regularly detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay in brain tissue lysates and in normal spinal fluid, and in astrocytes by double fluorescence microscopy. BAFF was localized in astrocytes close to BAFF-R-expressing immune cells.… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of TNFSF13B elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS175962 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the BAFF (TNFSF13B) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing TNFSF13B. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS175962 kit is based on TNFSF13B antibody-TNFSF13B antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect TNFSF13B antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, TNFSF13B. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for TNFSF13B

The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that belongs to the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) ligand family. This cytokine is a ligand for receptors TNFRSF13B/TACI, TNFRSF17/BCMA, and TNFRSF13C/BAFFR. This cytokine is expressed in B cell lineage cells, and acts as a potent B cell activator. It has been also shown to play an important role in the proliferation and differentiation of B cells. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified. UniProt Comments for TNFSF13B

BAFF: Cytokine that binds to TNFRSF13B/TACI and TNFRSF17/BCMA. TNFSF13/APRIL binds to the same 2 receptors. Together, they form a 2 ligands -2 receptors pathway involved in the stimulation of B- and T-cell function and the regulation of humoral immunity. A third B-cell specific BAFF-receptor (BAFFR/BR3) promotes the survival of mature B-cells and the B-cell response. Belongs to the tumor necrosis factor family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.

Protein type: Membrane protein, integral; Cell cycle regulation; Apoptosis; Cytokine

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 13q32-q34

Cellular Component: extracellular space; perinuclear region of cytoplasm; cytoplasm; integral to membrane; plasma membrane

Molecular Function: protein binding; cytokine activity; tumor necrosis factor receptor binding; receptor binding

Biological Process: cell proliferation; B cell costimulation; B cell homeostasis; immunoglobulin secretion; T cell costimulation; positive regulation of cell proliferation; positive regulation of B cell proliferation; positive regulation of germinal center formation; immune response; positive regulation of T cell proliferation; signal transduction
