BTK Antibody (Center) Blocking Peptide

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS9227181

Non-receptor tyrosine kinase indispensable for B lymphocyte development, differentiation and signaling. Binding of antigen to the B-cell antigen receptor (BCR) triggers signaling that ultimately leads to B-cell activation. After BCR engagement and activation… More details

Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
BTK, Blocking Peptide
Full Product Name
BTK Antibody (Center) Blocking Peptide
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Gene Name
AGMX1; ATK; BPK
Product Synonym Names
Tyrosine-protein kinase BTK; Agammaglobulinemia tyrosine kinase; ATK; B-cell progenitor kinase; BPK; Bruton tyrosine kinase; BTK; AGMX1; ATK; BPK
Form/Format
The synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml deionized water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the Center region of human BTK. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Antibody/Peptide Pairs
BTK peptide (MBS9227181) is used for blocking the activity of BTK antibody (MBS9204250)
Molecular Weight
79,937 Da
OMIM
300300
Cellular Location
Cytoplasm. Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein. Nucleus. Note: In steady state, BTK is predominantly cytosolic. Following B-cell receptor (BCR) engagement by antigen, translocates to the plasma membrane through its PH domain. Plasma membrane localization is a critical step in the activation of BTK. A fraction of BTK also shuttles between the nucleus and the cytoplasm, and nuclear export is mediated by the nuclear export receptor CRM1
Tissue Location
Predominantly expressed in B-lymphocytes.

Other Notes

Small volumes of BTK blocking peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for BTK

The protein encoded by this gene plays a crucial role in B-cell development. Mutations in this gene cause X-linked agammaglobulinemia type 1, which is an immunodeficiency characterized by the failure to produce mature B lymphocytes, and associated with a failure of Ig heavy chain rearrangement. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2013]

UniProt Comments for BTK

Btk: a tyrosine kinase of the Tec family. Plays a crucial role in B-cell ontogeny. Defects cause X-linked agammaglobulinemia, an immunodeficiency characterized by failure to produce mature B lymphocyte cells and associated with a failure of Ig heavy chain rearrangement. Truncated splice forms found in childhood leukemias may underlie radiation resistance of tumors through inhibition of apoptosis.
