Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
MTTP, Blocking Peptide
Full Product Name
MTTP Antibody (C-term) Blocking Peptide
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Gene Name
MTP
Product Synonym Names
Microsomal triglyceride transfer protein large subunit; MTTP; MTP
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the C-term region of human MTTP. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Antibody/Peptide Pairs
MTTP peptide (MBS9227997) is used for blocking the activity of MTTP antibody (MBS9215221)
Molecular Weight
16,865 Da
OMIM
157147
Cellular Location
Endoplasmic reticulum.
Tissue Location
Liver and small intestine. Also found in ovary, testis and kidney.

Other Notes

Small volumes of MTTP blocking peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for MTTP

MTP encodes the large subunit of the heterodimeric microsomal triglyceride transfer protein. Protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) completes the heterodimeric microsomal triglyceride transfer protein, which has been shown to play a central role in lipoprotein assembly. Mutations in MTP can cause abetalipoproteinemia. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

UniProt Comments for MTTP

MTTP: Catalyzes the transport of triglyceride, cholesteryl ester, and phospholipid between phospholipid surfaces. Required for the secretion of plasma lipoproteins that contain apolipoprotein B. Defects in MTTP are the cause of abetalipoproteinemia (ABL). ABL is an autosomal recessive disorder of lipoprotein metabolism. Affected individuals produce virtually no circulating apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins (chylomicrons, VLDL, LDL, lipoprotein(A)). Malabsorption of the antioxidant vitamin E occurs, leading to spinocerebellar and retinal degeneration.
