Vimentin (VIM) ELISA Kit for Human

For Research Use Only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures. Catalog #: MBS286723

This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate VIM in samples. An antibody specific for VIM has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any VIM present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After… More details

Other Notes

Small volumes of VIM elisa kit vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

MBS286723 is a ready-to-use microwell, strip-or-full plate ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) Kit for analyzing the presence of the Vimentin (VIM) ELISA Kit target analytes in biological samples. The concentration gradients of the kit standards or positive controls render a theoretical kit detection range in biological research samples containing VIM. The ELISA analytical biochemical technique of the MBS286723 kit is based on VIM antibody-VIM antigen interactions (immunosorbency) and an HRP colorimetric detection system to detect VIM antigen targets in samples. The ELISA Kit is designed to detect native, not recombinant, VIM. Appropriate sample types may include undiluted body fluids and/or tissue homogenates, secretions. Quality control assays assessing reproducibility identified the intra-assay CV (%) and inter-assay CV(%).

NCBI Summary for VIM

This gene encodes a type III intermediate filament protein. Intermediate filaments, along with microtubules and actin microfilaments, make up the cytoskeleton. The encoded protein is responsible for maintaining cell shape and integrity of the cytoplasm, and stabilizing cytoskeletal interactions. This protein is involved in neuritogenesis and cholesterol transport and functions as an organizer of a number of other critical proteins involved in cell attachment, migration, and signaling. Bacterial and viral pathogens have been shown to attach to this protein on the host cell surface. Mutations in this gene are associated with congenital cataracts in human patients. UniProt Comments for VIM

Vimentins are class-III intermediate filaments found in various non-epithelial cells, especially mesenchymal cells. Vimentin is attached to the nucleus, endoplasmic reticulum, and mitochondria, either laterally or terminally.
