Western Blot (WB) of anti-INA antibody

Western blot analysis of Alpha Internexin expression in rat brain extract (lane 1), mouse brain extract (lane 2) and 22RV1 whole cell lysates (lane 3). Alpha Internexin at 66KD was detected using rabbit anti- Alpha Internexin Antigen Affinity purified polyclonal antibody at 0.5 ug/mL. The blot was developed using chemiluminescence (ECL) method.

NCBI Summary for INA

Neurofilaments are type IV intermediate filament heteropolymers composed of light, medium, and heavy chains. Neurofilaments comprise the axoskeleton and they functionally maintain the neuronal caliber. They may also play a role in intracellular transport to axons and dendrites. This gene is a member of the intermediate filament family and is involved in the morphogenesis of neurons. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2009]

UniProt Comments for INA

INA: Class-IV neuronal intermediate filament that is able to self-assemble. It is involved in the morphogenesis of neurons. It may form an independent structural network without the involvement of other neurofilaments or it may cooperate with NF-L to form the filamentous backbone to which NF-M and NF-H attach to form the cross-bridges. Belongs to the intermediate filament family.

Protein type: Cytoskeletal

Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 10q24.33

Cellular Component: extracellular space; intermediate filament cytoskeleton; nuclear membrane; nucleoplasm
