Product Overview

Online Datasheet in PDF
Product Name
CLIC5, Blocking Peptide
Full Product Name
CLIC5 Antibody Blocking Peptide
Product Gene Name
Product Synonym Names
Chloride intracellular channel protein 5; CLIC5
Form/Format
Synthetic peptide was lyophilized with 100% acetonitrile and is supplied as a powder. Reconstitute with 0.1 ml DI water for a final concentration of 1 mg/ml.
Specificity
The synthetic peptide sequence used to generate the antibody was selected from the region of human CLIC5. A 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended. Precise conditions should be optimized for a particular assay.
Preparation and Storage
Maintain refrigerated at 2-8 degree C for up to 6 months. For long term storage store at -20 degree C.
Antibody/Peptide Pairs
CLIC5 peptide (MBS9227021) is used for blocking the activity of CLIC5 antibody (MBS9202512)
Molecular Weight
22,830 Da
OMIM
607293
Cellular Location
Isoform 1: Cytoplasm, cell cortex. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Membrane; Single-pass membrane protein. Note: Associates with the cortical actin cytoskeleton. Exists both as soluble cytoplasmic protein and as membrane protein with probably a single transmembrane domain (By similarity).
Tissue Location
Widely expressed in both fetal and adult human tissues (PubMed:24781754). Isoform 1 is expressed in renal glomeruli endothelial cells and podocytes (at protein level)

Other Notes

Small volumes of CLIC5 blocking peptide vial(s) may occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial during shipment and storage. If necessary, briefly centrifuge the vial on a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container`s cap. Certain products may require to ship with dry ice and additional dry ice fee may apply.

NCBI Summary for CLIC5

This gene encodes a member of the chloride intracellular channel (CLIC) family of chloride ion channels. The encoded protein associates with actin-based cytoskeletal structures and may play a role in multiple processes including hair cell stereocilia formation, myoblast proliferation and glomerular podocyte and endothelial cell maintenance. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]

UniProt Comments for CLIC5

CLIC5: Can insert into membranes and form poorly selective ion channels that may also transport chloride ions. May play a role in the regulation of transepithelial ion absorption and secretion. Required for normal formation of stereocilia in the inner ear and normal development of the organ of Corti. Is required for the development and/or maintenance of the proper glomerular endothelial cell and podocyte architecture. Belongs to the chloride channel CLIC family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.
